Buffalo King Megaways Slot by Pragmatic Play at Mega Casino

Buffalo King Megaways takes Pragmatic Play's original Buffalo King five-reel slot and rebuilds it on the Megaways engine. The six-reel grid expands the ways-to-win count to 200,704, well above the 117,649 standard Megaways ceiling, and the bonus round introduces combining wild multipliers that fundamentally change the variance profile compared to the original. This prairie-themed slot is one of the more recognisable Pragmatic Play Megaways releases in UK lobbies, and the Buffalo King free spins round is built around the kind of multiplier mathematics that defines the high-volatility end of the format. Mega Casino is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, Licence Number 39326.

What Buffalo King Megaways Is

A Pragmatic Play Megaways adaptation of the original Buffalo King slot, released in 2020. Six reels with variable symbol counts, up to 200,704 ways to win, a North American prairie theme with wildlife symbols, and a free spins round triggered by Golden Buffalo scatter symbols. High volatility. The slot sits in the upper tier of Pragmatic Play's Megaways catalogue alongside The Dog House Megaways and 5 Lions Megaways.

How the Game Works

Each of the six reels shows between two and seven symbols on any given spin. The number of ways to win is calculated as the product of the symbol counts across the reels. The maximum is 200,704 ways. Wins are formed by matching three or more identical symbols from the leftmost reel across consecutive reels, with paylines forming on any position rather than fixed positions.

The symbol hierarchy runs from card royals (10 through Ace) at the low end to four high-value wildlife symbols: bald eagle, mountain lion, wolf, and elk. The buffalo is the highest-paying standard symbol and uniquely pays across only two adjacent reels rather than requiring the standard three-reel match. The Golden Buffalo is the scatter and lands only on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Tumbling Reels

After every winning spin, the tumbling reels mechanic kicks in. Winning symbols are removed from the grid, and new symbols cascade down to fill the gaps. The ways-to-win figure recalculates with each cascade, and chains of tumbling wins can build into significantly larger combined payouts than the initial spin alone would deliver.

Free Spins and Wild Multipliers

Four, five, or six Golden Buffalo scatters anywhere on the active reels trigger 12, 17, or 22 free spins, respectively. The Golden Buffalo only appears on reels 2 through 5, so the trigger frequency is slightly lower than on Megaways slots that allow the scatter on every reel.

During the free spins round, wilds carry random multipliers of 2x, 3x, or 5x. When multiple multiplier wilds contribute to a single winning combination, the multipliers combine rather than replacing each other. A five-symbol win that includes three wilds at 2x, 3x, and 5x multipliers receives a 30x total multiplier (2 times 3 times 5) on that win. The combining-multiplier mechanic is what gives the bonus round its variance profile and the slot its high-roller reputation.

Three Golden Buffalo scatters landing during the free spins round add five further free spins to the feature, with the same retrigger mechanic available across multiple chains.

RTP and Volatility

Pragmatic Play's published headline RTP for Buffalo King Megaways is 96.52 % in the standard configuration. The studio also offers operators alternative configurations at 95.52 % and 94.52 %. The configuration in use at Mega Casino should be verified from the in-game info panel before publication.

Volatility is rated 5 out of 5 on Pragmatic Play's internal scale, the maximum. The mathematics is loaded heavily toward the bonus round, which means extended base-game spells punctuated by larger free spins outcomes. RTP is a theoretical return over the long term and is not a guarantee of any session result.

Bonus Buy is unavailable to UK players in line with UK Gambling Commission rules. UK players access the free spins round only through natural scatter triggers.

Who Buffalo King Megaways Suits

This slot is best suited to players who enjoy high-volatility Megaways games and don't mind a bit of patience. The combining-multiplier bonus is the real draw, and for players who love bonus-driven excitement, it makes the wait worthwhile.

If you prefer steady, frequent wins, shorter sessions, or a calmer pace, this probably isn't the slot for you.
